GDPR

General information on GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was developed by the European Union to protect the personal data of all individuals within the European Union and the European Economic Area. It also applies to the export of personal data outside the European Union and the European Economic Area. The GDPR is primarily intended to enable EU citizens and residents to control their personal data and simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying regulation within the EU.

Who should be GDPR compliant?

• Companies located in the EU.
• Companies whose activities are related to the provision of goods or services and involve processing the data of EU citizens.
• Companies whose activities are related to processing user behavior monitoring data in the EU.

Why is it necessary to comply with GDPR?

If a complaint is submitted from an EU citizen (natural or legal person), the EU reserves the right to verify a company’s GDPR compliance using a designated GDPR Compliance Officer. In the event of non-compliance, the EU has the right to impose a fine ranging from €10 million or 2-4% of the company’s annual profits (depending on the kind of violation).
